To prevent catastrophic climate change the world needs to wean itself off fossil fuels and onto cleaner energy, fast. But an energy transition that overlooks the needs and voices of people in countries dependent on the extraction of oil, gas and minerals will undermine already fragile economies and impede effective climate action. Building on two decades of work on extractive industries transparency, the PWYP network of over a thousand organisations from more than 50 countries is campaigning for a just transition to a fairer, cleaner energy future.
PWYP’s 2020-2025 strategy defines the path to a world where everyone benefits from its natural resources. We press governments to regulate natural resource extraction openly and responsibly, so that companies operate within effective governance frameworks and civil society has the capacity and freedom to make natural resource extraction work for the benefit of all.Read our strategy
