PWYP’s New Strategy: Vision 2025 and Beyond

PWYP stands at the cusp of a new era. Our global strategy, Vision 2025: A People-Centred Agenda for the Extractive Sector, has steered us through five pivotal years from January 2020 to December 2024. Now, it's time to chart a new course for the next five years, and we want you to be part of the journey.

On 1 June, 2023, PWYP’s Global Council and Board convened to initiate the development of our next global strategy. Over the two decades since PWYP’s inception, the world has evolved considerably, as has the work of PWYP members in more than 50 countries. The scope of this strategy development acknowledges all that we have achieved to date and recognises how we need to evolve to meet the current and future challenges. Members will therefore be consulted not only on new strategic goals for the coming five years, but also on our vision, mission, theory of change and governance/operational model

To oversee this process, a sub-committee comprising volunteers from PWYP’s governing bodies – the Global Council, Africa Steering Committee and Board – has been established. This group, working in tandem with the PWYP Secretariat, will lead the consultations and strategy development over the coming months, with a view to presenting the new strategy for adoption at the next Global Assembly in early 2025.

The strategy development is unfolding in the following phases:

Throughout this process, all PWYP members are invited and encouraged to engage in order to build a strategy that is collectively owned. Regular updates are being provided via newsletters and WhatsApp broadcast channels in five languages. If you would like to receive regular updates please sign up to a whatsapp group below or email [email protected]

PWYP’s journey continues, building on the strength of our past and evolving to meet the needs of our future.
