Home to several key EU institutions, Belgium has been an important base for PWYP’s European lobbying. The country’s PWYP members helped campaign for the EU Accounting and Transparency Directives, obliging extractive companies listed within the Union to publish their payments to governments in countries where they operate. PWYP members also monitor Belgium in its role as a supporting country to the EITI.
